The president affirms aid being sent after a Defense Department pause for review of U.S. stockpiles.
The Pentagon confirmed late Monday evening that additional weaponry would be sent to Ukraine, hours after President Donald Trump told the press of his intention during a formal dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“We’re going to send more weapons. We have to,” President Trump said in the Oval Office.
“They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard now. They’re getting hit very hard. We’re going to have to send more weapons, your defensive weapons, primarily, but they’re getting hit very, very hard. So many people are dying in that mess.”
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth previously stopped the weapons delivery to Ukraine for a review of the U.S. military stockpile, which he was concerned was dwindling. The Department of Defense affirmed that it will be sending “additional defensive weapons to Ukraine so it can defend itself… while we work to secure a lasting peace and ensure the killing stops.”
“Our framework for POTUS to evaluate military shipments across the globe remains in effect and is integral to our America First defense priorities,” the agency said.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For President Trump to be led by the Lord as he serves as commander-in-chief.
- For wisdom for the president and his military advisors as they continue to send support to Ukraine.
- For Secretary Hegseth as he seeks to ensure the defense preparedness of the U.S.
